In a case of alleged copyright infringement, a commercial court in Ranchi recently ordered the screening of Karan Johar’s Jugjugg Jeeyo before it ahead of its theatrical release on 24th June. A Ranchi-based writer, Vishal Singh, has claimed that the content of his story, Punny Rani, has been used in the film without giving any credit. He has sought a stay on the film’s release and has demanded a compensation of Rs. 1.5 crore from the producers, Karan Johar and Viacom18 Studios.
The film, directed by Raj Mehta, stars Anil Kapoor, Neetu Singh Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani.
