Except for four or five industry people, nobody attended the marka ceremony of one-time leading Gujarat exhibitor Pitambar Galani today (13th August) in Bombay. Considering that he used to control a chain of almost 125-150 cinemas at one time, it is shocking that the old-timers among distributors and exhibitors never cared to mark their presence at the ceremony. It just goes to underline the heartlessness of the Bombay film trade. For, over the years, most of the distributors must’ve earned lakhs and crores of rupees from Pitambarbhai’s chain of cinemas.
