Actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) chief Kamal Haasan today (July 25) made his debut in Parliament when he took oath as a Rajya Sabha member. The veteran star, producer-director and politician took the oath in Tamil.
Kamal’s nomination to the RS was backed by the ruling DMK-led alliance which had assured him a seat in the Upper House in exchange for MNM’s support during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Kamal Haasan had filed his nomination papers on June 6 at the Tamil Nadu secretariat. He was elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Tamil Nadu on June 12.
