Film industry make-up artiste Bharat Ahire (inset) died after he was allegedly assaulted by his wife’s lover and another man in Bombay. The wife (in photograph above) and a man have been arrested in connection with the murder. Efforts are on to nab the wife’s lover.
The Aarey Colony police in Bombay learnt on July 19 that Bharat Ahire was admitted to a hospital at Malad (Bombay) after sustaining injuries in a motorcycle accident. Ahire also attributed his injuries to an accident, when the police reached the hospital. However, the police later got to know that the 40-year-old make-up artiste was thrashed by two men in the presence of his wife, Rajashree (35), on July 12. The police then spoke to the Ahire couple’s daughters who also confirmed that their father was mercilessly thrashed at Aarey Colony where they live.
The police soon uncovered that Rajashree was in an extramarital relationship with one Chandrashekhar Padayachi who resided in the same locality. According to the police, the Ahire couple had regular fights over Rajashree’s love affair. To get rid of her husband, Rajashree allegedly hatched a conspiracy with her lover. Padayachi and his accomplice, Ranga, brutally beat up Ahire on July 12 in his wife’s presence. The accused fled the spot after a crowd gathered there.
On her part, Rajashree took her husband home instead of rushing him to a hospital. It was only when the daughters informed a relative about their father’s deteriorating condition that he was taken to a hospital a few days later. Bharat Ahire succumbed to his injuries on August 5.
The police registered a murder case against Rajashree, her boyfriend, Chandrashekhar Padayachi, and Ranga. Rajashree and Ranga were arrested on August 13.
