Veteran Marathi television actor Bal Karve breathed his last on the morning of 28th August at his residence at Vile Parle in Bombay. He was crenated the same day. He was to shortly celebrate his 95th birthday and had been suffering from age-related illnesses.
Balkrishna Karve, known as Bal Karve in the entertainment world, became a household name after he played Gundyabhau in the 1979 TV serial Chimanrao. So popular was his character and the television serial that he was often referred to as Gundyabhau. Bal Karve also acted in many Marathi stage-plays.
