Gujarati theatre personality Niranjan Mehta has been selected for the Maharashtra State Gujarati Sahitya Academy’s lifetime achievement award for 2024-25 for his life-long service in the field of art. The awards function will be held on 21st March at Ravindra Natya Mandir, Prabhadevi, Bombay.
Mehta will be given a badge of honour, a letter of commendation and Rs. 1 lakh in cash.
Niranjan Mehta had an ad agency called International Advertising. He used to handle the print ads for Kanti Madia’s Natya Sampada and many other production houses. Since the last couple of years, he has also been handling the dramatic and other activities of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Bombay.
Niranjan Mehta used to excel in giving meaningful and weighty titles to Gujarati plays produced by Kanti Madia. He used to host radio programmes of Gujarati films in the good old days when they used to be the preferred form of film promotion.
