‘PARAM SUNDARI’: CHRISTIAN GROUP SLAMS ROMANTIC SCENE INSIDE CHURCH | 14 August, 2025

Members of the Christian community have objected to a flirting scene of Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor inside a church, in the forthcoming Param Sundari. They have demanded its removal and have even questioned the Central Board of Film Certification’s clearance of the said scene.

The Watchdog Foundation has written to the CBFC, the Bombay police, the I & B ministry, and the Maharashtra government to direct producer Maddock Films to remove the scene from the film as well as its promotional videos. The letter states that the church is a sacred place of worship and it should not be depicted as a stage for indecent content. It further adds, “This portrayal not only disrespects the spiritual sanctity of the religious place of worship but also deeply offends the sensibilities of the Catholic community.”

The Foundation’s advocate said, “In India, the deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings may attract legal scrutiny under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.” He warned of public protests if the producers failed to remove the scene from the film. Param Sundari is slated for release on 29th August.
