Nani’s HIT: The Third Case (Telugu) has opened today (May 1) to good houses even in circuits other than South where the initial is excellent, as expected. This is as much because of the Labour Day partial holiday as for Nani’s growing popularity even among the non-Telugu film audience.
Qube and the distributors of HIT: The Third Case could not settle their dispute on CDC (Content Delivery Charges) and, therefore, the film did not open at almost half of the non-national multiplex chains. While the UFO screens released the film today, the Qube screens screened other films as the dispute could not be settled. These Qube cinemas will screen HIT: The Third Case from tomorrow. The dispute related to CDC for Thursday (the odd day of release).
Whatever the case, the loss was the industry’s because the film’s business for a day has gone down the drain. And the day is no ordinary day as it’s Labour Day today!
As for the national multiplex chains, they are, in any case, not screening HIT: The Third Case — just as they don’t release other South language films — because of the smaller window between the theatrical and OTT release.
