After spending eight years in jail, two men accused of murdering model-actress Kritika Chaudhary were acquitted by a sessions court in Bombay on March 29 due to lack of evidence. Shakeel Khan (40) and accomplice Basu Das (47) were arrested soon after the alleged murder. The death came to light when residents of the Andheri (Bombay) building in which Kritika used to stay, alerted police after a foul odour emanated from Kritika’s fifth-floor flat on June 12, 2017.
Robbery and non-payment of Rs. 6,000 owed to a drug peddler for contraband were the alleged motives, the police had said at the time of the death.
The advocates of the arrested duo said that the prosecution miserably failed to prove any of the charges framed against the accused.
