Famous Studios at Mahalakshmi in Bombay is being demolished from today (1st October). At one time, the iconic Famous Mahalakshmi, as it was referred to, was the building which housed many a production house. In that sense, countless films were born in the offices and corridors of Famous building. Much later, as film production houses started moving to the suburbs, the building became the abode of ad film producers. At the time of its demolition, it was the hub of the advertising world — just as it was the centre of film production till the 1990s.
