It was a rare honour for iconic actor Shabana Azmi from the legendary Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in New York when the Institute’s president, Victoria Kraner, personally invited her to visit the school and conduct an acting masterclass for NYU theatre students. What made the invitation even more special was that Lee Strasberg has trained such Hollywood actors as Marlon Brando, Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.
Kraner extended the recent invitation after watching the veteran actor’s acclaimed solo play, Broken Images. This was a historic moment as much for Shabana Azmi as it was for India because the iconic actor was the first ever Indian to receive such an invitation from the Institute which is regarded as the Mecca of acting.
