‘BAD GIRL’ (DUBBED) REVIEW | 26 September, 2025

Anurag Kashyap, Vetri Maaran and Grass Root Film Company’s Bad Girl (dubbed from the Tamil film of the same name; UA) is the story of a girl who has multiple affairs with different boys.

Varsha Bharath’s story about a promiscuous girl, Ramya (Anjali Sivaraman), does not offer any novelty as one has seen such characters in umpteen earlier films. The screenplay, also written by Varsha Bharath, is slow-paced and repetitive. Since the story-line is thin, the drama gets boring after a point of time. Also, every boy who comes into Ramya’s life, ends up ditching her after having physical relations with her. This similarity in all her relationships makes the drama unidimensional. Arnav Amit Tharwani’s dialogues are dull.

Anjali Sivaraman is good as Ramya. Shanthipriya is natural in the role of Ramya’s mother who is a teacher by profession. Hridhu Haroon does an ordinary job as Nalan. Teejay Arunasalam is okay as Irfan. Shashank Bommireddipalli is average as Arjun. Saranya Ravichandran lends decent support as Ramya’s friend, Selvi. Pooja Venkatesh is so-so as Ramya’s friend, Niharika. M.J. Shriram is ordinary as Ramya’s father. Parvathi Balakrishnan provides fair support as Ramya’s grandmother. Others just about fit the bill.

Varsha Bharath’s direction is nothing to shout about. Music (by Amit Trivedi) is okay. Shashwath Dwivedi’s lyrics are average. Background music is fair. Preetha Jayaraman, Jagadeesh Ravi and Prince Anderson’s cinematography is alright. V. Shanmugaraja’s production designing is alright. Radha Sridhar’s editing ought to have been tighter. Dubbing is okay.

On the whole, Bad Girl is a flop show.

Released on 26-9-’25 at Movie Time Goregaon (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru Flip Films and Prakash Films. Publicity & opening: dull. …….Also released all over. Opening was poor everywhere.
