‘SHIN CHAN: THE SPICY KASUKABE DANCERS IN INDIA’ (ANIMATION; DUBBED) REVIEW | 26 September, 2025

Shin-EI Animation’s Shin Chan: The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers In India (animation; dubbed from the Japanese film Crayon Shin-Chan The Movie: Super Hot! The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers) is the story of the adventures of Shin Chan and his group. Shin Chan and his group win the dance competition in Japan and get selected to perform in India at the biggest entertainment festival. But the trip for the specific purpose goes haywire when Shin Chan’s friend, Bo-chan, finds a dormant, tyrannical power within him awakened. They are helped by three Indians — Ariana, Kabir and Dil.

The story offers no novelty but the attempt to appeal to the Indian audience is all too evident. Based on Yoshito Usui’s Crayon Shin-chan, the screenplay, written by Kimiko Ueno, is alright. But the entertainment comes in bits and parts only.

Voice acting is okay. Masakazu Hashimoto’s direction is fair. Background music is alright. Editing is suitably sharp. Dubbing is proper.

On the whole, Shin Chan: The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers In India is an ordinary fare. The original Japanese version, also released simultaneously, is expected to fare better.

Released on 26-9-’25 at Inox (daily 3 shows) and other cinemas of Bombay thru PVR Inox Pictures. Publicity & opening: dull. …….Also released all over. Opening was weak everywhere.
