SAIYAARA has come like a hurricane and swept the trade off its feet. Whether in ‘A’, ‘B’ or even ‘C’ class centres, the musical love story opened big yesterday (18th July). What’s heartening is that the public reports have lived up to the extraordinary initial so that the momentum will remain intact for the entire week! The craze to see two newcomers launched in the film is of the kind not seen after Hrithik Roshan’s introduction in KAHO NAA…PYAAR HAI in 2000. SAIYAARA netted Rs. 21.25 crore on the first day, a figure which has left the entire trade staring in disbelief.
Maalik has not found much appreciation. It managed fair numbers in the first week, only in pockets where the audience prefer action dramas. It netted just Rs. 3.50 crore on the first day (Friday). Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan bombed in the first week as it faced almost complete rejection. The film, based on a short story, should never have been attempted because it was not meant to be converted into a feature film, at least not this kind of a film which kept on going in circles. It netted only Rs. 1.50 crore in 1st week.
Superman (dubbed and the original English versions) did very well in the first week. The weekend started with a take of Rs. 7.23 crore on Friday. Jurassic World: Rebirth (dubbed and the original English versions) did well in the second week although collections dropped more than 50% because of the opposition of Superman and the running film, F1: The Movie. Collections for the weekend, especially, were excellent. The second weekend started with a net collection of Rs. 3.10 crore on Friday. In this way, the second week closed at Rs. 25.62 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 82.10 crore. The film should comfortably enter the Rs. 100-crore club in the days to come, most likely in its fourth week.
Maa added around Rs. 1.70 crore to its kitty in 3rd week. Hence the grand total for 3 weeks went up to Rs. 31.70 crore.

Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 4.92 crore. In this way, the third week closed at Rs. 13.41 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 73.07 crore. Extraordinary, considering that it is car racing film and not a usual masala entertainer.
Sitaare Zameen Par held on at medium levels in the fourth week. It collected Rs. 0.85 crore on the first day of the fourth weekend.
