LATEST POSITION | 2 August, 2025 ‘MAHAVATAR NARSIMHA’ PROVES BLOCKBUSTER, NEW RELEASES BELOW THE MARK

Both the new releases of this week — SON OF SARDAAR 2 and DHADAK 2 — did not open to impressive houses. With the reports being below the mark, their future at the box-office appears bleak.

Rasa turned out to be a debacle in the first week.

So Long Valley proved to be a disaster in the first week.

Mahavatar Narsimha (animation, Hindi and South languages) is the surprise blockbuster of the year because it came from almost nowhere but is taking the nation by storm. It did extraordinary business in 1st week after an ordinary start. The word of mouth for the film was so outstanding that collections multiplied all over India as the days progressed. The second week has also started on a super-strong note. The film netted Rs. 1.75 crore on the first day. Collections almost trebled to Rs. 4.75 crore on Saturday. The jump in collections on Sunday took the day’s total to Rs. 8.85 crore. In this way, the first weekend closed at Rs. 15.35 crore. Collections for the weekdays were phenomenal because the response and reactions of the public in the cinemas had spread like wild fire. In fact, in one of the rarest of rare cases, collections of each of the weekdays was better than those of the immediately preceding day: Monday – Rs. 5.15 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 6.70 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 7.20 crore, Thursday – Rs. 7.60 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was an astounding Rs. 26.65 crore. In this way, the total for the first week was Rs. 42 crore, which was 24 times the first day’s collections!!

The Fantastic 4: First Steps (dubbed and the original English versions) did fairly well in the first week. It netted approximately Rs. 15 crore in the first weekend, and around Rs. 10 crore during the weekdays. Therefore, the first week closed at Rs. 25 crore.

Saiyaara continued to do extraordinary in 2nd week too. It crossed the Rs. 250-crore mark and is on its way to touching the Rs. 300-crore mark in the third weekend. The film started the second weekend with a take of Rs. 18.50 crore on Friday. Collections on Saturday rose to Rs. 27 crore and further to Rs. 30 crore on Sunday. After a second weekend total of Rs. 75.50 crore, collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 9.50 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 10.50 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 8 crore, Thursday – Rs. 6.50 crore. With a total of Rs. 34.50 crore for the weekdays, the second week closed at Rs. 110 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 285.25 crore.

Tanvi The Great crashed in 2nd week after a miserable 1st week. It is out of almost all the cinemas.

Nikita Roy fared even more disastrously in the second week than its first week, and is now out of most of the cinemas.

Smurfs (animation, dubbed and the original English versions) performed terribly in 2nd week after a weak first week.

Superman (dubbed and the original English versions) dropped 80% in 3rd week. The third weekend started with a collection of Rs. 0.26 crore on Friday. Collections increased to Rs. 0.59 crore on Saturday. The nett total for Sunday was again Rs. 0.59 crore. Therefore, the total for the third weekend was Rs. 1.44 crore. Collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 0.13 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.16 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.14 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.13 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 0.56 crore. In this way, the third week closed at Rs. 2 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 47.93 crore.

Metro… In Dino fell almost 70% in the fourth week. It added Rs. 2 crore to its kitty in 4th week, taking its grand total for 4 weeks to Rs. 51.35 crore.

Jurassic World: Rebirth (dubbed and the original English versions) dropped around 66% in the fourth week. The fourth weekend started with a net collection of Rs. 0.43 crore on Friday. Collections for Saturday increased to Rs. 1.09 crore while on Sunday, they went up to Rs. 1.37 crore. In this way, the total for the fourth weekend was Rs. 2.89 crore. Collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 0.27 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.28 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.25 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.24 crore. With the total for the weekdays being Rs. 1.04 crore, the fourth week closed at Rs. 3.93 crore. Grand total for 4 weeks: Rs. 97.95 crore.

F1: The Movie (dubbed and the original English versions) was strong in 5th week too, of course, mainly the original English version. The film netted Rs. 0.57 crore on the first day (Friday) of the fifth weekend. Collections almost doubled to Rs. 1.02 crore on Saturday. The total for Sunday was Rs. 1.08 crore. After a fifth weekend total of Rs. 2.67 crore, collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 0.38 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.39 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.39 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.42 crore. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 1.58 crore. Hence the fifth week closed at Rs. 4.25 crore. Grand total for 5 weeks: Rs. 88.18 crore.

Sitaare Zameen Par added Rs. 1.30 crore to its kitty in 6th week, taking its grand total for 6 weeks to Rs. 166.89 crore.
