Kunal Shamshere Malla Film Productions’ 5th September is the story of the battle for self-respect fought by teachers.
It is a ritual to hold a football match on Teacher’s Day every year in a school. Energetic students battle it out on the field with low-on-confidence teachers. But there is one ever-hopeful teacher who is capable of turning the tables.
Kaviraj Singh, Anuradha Pundeer Malla and Kunal Shamshere Malla have penned a story which is more suited for a television serial. The trio’s screenplay is hardly any better than the unexciting story. The drama gets repetitive after a point. Dialogues are routine.
Sanjay Mishra is earnest. Victor Banerjee does an average job. Brijendra Kala is sincere. Atul Srivastava performs reasonably well. Deepraj Rana is okay. Kavin Dave does quite well. Kunal Shamshere Malla is ordinary. Kiran Dubey is passable. Sarika Singh, Gayatri Bhargavi, Maliha Malla and Rishabh Khanna pass muster.
Kunal Shamshere Malla’s direction is dull. Music (by Kunal Shamshere Malla and Vickey Prasad) is below the mark. Lyrics are barely passable. Harshit Gupta’s choreography is functional. Sidhartha Pradeep’s background music is not too impactful. Camerawork (by Tobin Thomas) is dull. Sheikh Hanan’s action and stunt scenes lack thrill. Malavika V.N.’s editing leaves a lot to be desired.
On the whole, 5th September is a weak fare.
Released on 18-7-’25 at Glamour (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru First Film Studios. Publicity & opening: poor. …….Also released all over. Opening was dull everywhere.
