ACTOR KINGPIN OF TRAFFICKING SCAM, FOUR AIDES HELD | 12 April, 2025

Days after his arrest in the human trafficking racket, the police has said that the man, Manish Grey alias Maddy, is the kingpin of the scam. Maddy is a professional actor who has worked in TV serials and web series. Four of his accomplices were arrested on April 10. Meanwhile, 60 persons who were trafficked to Myanmar, were rescued.

Maddy and his gang allegedly trafficked at least 60 youths from Bombay promising them lucrative jobs in Thailand and Myanmar, but instead forced them into cyber slavery by making them indulge in cyber crimes, according to officials of the Maharashtra Nodal Cyber Police.

Last month, about 20 youngsters who had been trafficked, managed to return to India and lodged complaints against the gang. The arrests took place basis a complaint by Satish Sharma, a resident of Andheri East (Bombay).

The police said, Maddy contacted the job-seekers on social media, promising them high-paying jobs in Thailand. Those who applied were taken in boats to Myanmar where they were forced to participate in cyber frauds. In Myanmar, the Indians were taken to guarded compounds controlled by armed rebel groups. The job seekers from the first batch alleged that agents had sold them for US $5,000 each. The victims were also threatened with physical torture and organ removal if they did not comply.
