The Maharashtra state environment department has asked the Bombay suburban district collector and additional principal chief conservator of forests of mangrove cell to look into a complaint by BJP’s Kirit Somaiya about the use of mangrove land at Borivli (in Bombay) for film shootings. The directive was issued by Vishal Madane, under secretary of the environment department, following Somaiya’s email complaint received on February 23.
The complaint alleged encroachment and unauthorised use of land classified as green zone under CRZ norms. The department said, “Authorities are required to verify the facts and take necessary steps… if any breach of 2019 CRZ notification or court orders is found.”
