Actor Abhishek Bachchan on September 10 moved the Delhi high court, seeking to protect his publicity and personality rights and restrain websites and platforms from misusing his image, likeness, persona, and fake videos, including sexually explicit material. The actor’s plea came a day after his actress-wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, approached the high court on September 9, seeking similar relief.
Justice Tejas Karia said that he would pass an order on the plea and took on record the note submitted by Abhishek’s counsel, advocate Pravin Anand, naming the defendant entities.
The counsel said, the defendants had been creating AI-generated videos of the actor and fake photographs signed by him, including sexually explicit material. The high court, however, pointed out that the problem was that once URLs became public, instead of protecting personality rights, it could do more damage to the person’s right.
