‘AJEY’ CERTIFICATION ISSUE TO BE DECIDED SOON: CBFC TELLS HC | 18 July, 2025

The Central Board of Film Certification informed the Bombay high court on July 17 that it would decide within two working days on the certification plea made by the producers of Ajey: The Untold Story Of A Yogi, purportedly based on the life of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath. In its petition to the high court, Samrat Cinematics India Pvt. Ltd., the producers of the controversial film, have claimed that the CBFC was unduly delaying the certification of its film and its teaser and trailers. They sought certification within five days.

Senior advocate Ravi Kadam, representing the petitioners, claimed that the CBFC indulged in “unreasonable, unexplained and arbitrary” delays in processing the application for the film, its teaser, trailer and promotional song. The film is inspired by the book The Monk Who Became Chief Minister, authored by Shantanu Gupta. The film was scheduled for release on August 1.
