The advisory board under the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has upheld the invocation of Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities (COFEPOSA) Act against jailed Kannada actress Ranya Rao. The board on July 17 issued directions to not allow Ranya to file a bail application for one year from the date of arrest.
Ranya was arrested on March 3 this year at the Kempegowda International airport in Bangalore on charges of smuggling gold into the country from Dubai.
