Filmmaker Anindya Bikas Datta has levelled plagiarism charges against actor Vinay Pathak for allegedly conniving to lift the story of his Quack Shankar for the web series titled Gram Chikitsalaya.
According to Anindya Bikas Datta, he had registered his screenplay of Quack Shankar with the Screenplay Writers Association in 2020 and had shared the project deck with Vinay Pathak in 2021. Raaj Shaandilya and Vimal Lahoti were to make Quack Shankar with Anindya as director. However, Anindya Bikas Datta said that the trailer of web series Gram Chikitsalaya, produced by The Viral Fever (TVF) and scheduled to stream on Amazon Prime from May 9, bore a striking resemblance to Quack Shankar.
Raaj Shaandilya and Vimal Lahoti have served a legal notice on Vinay Pathak and TVF to refrain from releasing, exhibiting, exploiting, streaming or distributing the series.
