Dolby Laboratories, a global leader in immersive entertainment experiences, on 2nd July marked a historic milestone with the launch of India’s first Dolby Cinema in Pune at the Chaphalkars’ City Pride, Kharadi. This state-of-art auditorium is a 310-seater Dolby Cinema, purpose-built to deliver a premium film-going experience which combines the breathtaking visuals of Dolby Vision with the immersive sound of Dolby Atmos. Jurassic World: Rebirth is the opening attraction in the Dolby Cinema auditorium (screen 6 of City Pride, Kharadi,Pune).
Information was witness to the launching on 2nd July and it must be said, the projection and sound quality is wow! Dolby plans to launch more such cinemas and going by the quality, one is sure, it may not be an uphill task for the company. The first few cities already finalised by Dolby for the launch of Dolby Cinema are Hyderabad, Bangalore, Trichy, Kochi and Ulikkal.
Pushkaraj Chaphalkar, partner, City Pride Multiplexes, revealed, “This auditorium has taken months of hard work to fructify. The entire interior designing has been cent per cent supervised by technicians from Dolby.” The walls of a Dolby Cinema are completely black and so are the seats. As Friedrich Deininger of Dolby explained, “The colours on the screen come alive the best when the surrounding is black.” A noteworthy feature of the cinema design is that all the speakers are concealed, there is not a single speaker which can be seen on the walls or the ceiling!
