Actress Celina Jaitley has initiated legal proceedings against her Austrian husband, Peter Haag, under the Domestic Violence Act. Married for 15 years, the couple is embroiled in a contentious dispute. The actress has accused Peter of racist remarks and undermining her financial independence and dignity.
Celina has sought Rs. 10 lakh by way of monthly maintenance and Rs. 50 crore as compensation. She has said in her complaint that after living in Bombay, Dubai and Singapore, they and their children settled in a remote Austrian village. She has also said that she did not have access to money or transportation. According to her complaint, Peter allegedly served her a divorce notice in a “calculated and deceitful” manner on September 3, 2025. The divorce proceedings were filed by Peter Haag in Austria. The first divorce hearing on September 22 was distressing for Celina as, according to her, Peter attended in his wedding suit, which she perceived as an attempt to cause her emotional harm. She also said that Peter had now blocked her access to their three children who were in his custody in Austria. She has also sought an order for unhindered virtual and telephonic access to them.
The complaint was presented before the judicial magistrate first class, Andheri, who issued notice to Peter. The next hearing is scheduled on December 12.
