Solaris Pictures and TNV Films’ Kuch Sapney Apne (UA) is about a gay couple. Kartik (Satvik Bhatia) and Aman (Arpit Chaudhary) are in a relationship which is tested when one of them has a fling. Damodar (Shishir Sharma) and Vasudha (Mona Ambegaonkar) are Kartik’s parents. Their marriage falls apart when they have a fight. Are these two couples able to resolve their differences? Do their respective relationships stand the test of time?
Sridhar Rangayan and Saagar Gupta have written a story which is not novel or fresh. Stories about gay love have been seen in the past too. The duo’s screenplay treads the predictable path so that even the scenes seem repetitive. The angle of the fight between Kartik’s parents is an addition to the gay track, but that hardly makes a difference. Sridhar Rangayan and Saagar Gupta’s dialogues are nothing to shout about.
Satvik Bhatia acts well as Kartik. Arpit Chaudhary is good in the role of Aman. Shishir Sharma makes his mark as Kartik’s father, Damodar. Mona Ambegaonkar has her moments as Kartik’s mother, Vasudha. Abhay Kulkarni (as Ramesh), Veenah Nair (as Lata), Yamini Singh (as Sarita), Yateen Karyekar (as Srinivas), Teodor Wickenbergh (as Stefan) and the others provide average support.
Sridhar Rangayan and Saagar Gupta’s direction is routine. Music (Vishal Bhardwaj, Priyabrata Panigrahi, Ashwin Shreyan and Nishith Hegde) is commonplace. Saagar Gupta’s lyrics are alright. Suresh Iyer’s background music is functional. Subhransu Das’ camerawork is okay. Sumeet Patil’s production designing is functional. Pravin Angre’s editing leaves something to be desired.
On the whole, Kuch Sapney Apne is a flop show.
Released on 21-2-’25 at Metro Inox (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay by Solaris Pictures. Publicity & opening: poor. …….Also released all over. Opening was weak everywhere.
