KAPIL SHARMA’S CAFE FIRING CASE: GANG HAD PLANS TO KILL COMEDIAN-ACTOR | 29 November, 2025

The Delhi crime branch on November 28 arrested Ludhiana-based gangster Bandhu Maan Singh Sekhon, wanted by the Canadian authorities in connection with the shootings at comedian-actor Kapil Sharma’s Kap’s Cafe in Surrey, Canada. During interrogation, Sekhon revealed that the gang had plans to kill Kapil if the extortion money demanded from him was not paid.

Sekhon, who is said to be the right-hand man of ISI operative Harry Chatha and gangster Goldy Dhillon — the alleged mastermind behind the attacks — had allegedly fled from Canada to India to maintain a low profile. He was caught on camera in a car with two of the shooters identified as Daljot Rehal and Gurjot.

Kap’s Cafe had been targeted thrice since July this year. The first attack, on July 9, involved shots fired at the cafe by a shooter wearing a body camera. Goldy Dhillon’s aides claimed responsibility via social media, stating that the attack was retribution for alleged past remarks on Kapil Sharma’s show. Within a month, the cafe was attacked again. In the second attack, the assailants claimed that the reason for the same was that Sharma had not answered their calls. The social media post claiming responsibility threatened further action in Bombay. The third drive-by shooting occurred in October.

Sekhon fled Canada on August 22, shortly after the second attack, because the Royal Canadian Mounted Police intensified its crackdown on the gang.
