‘VAAJAV RE!’ (MARATHI) REVIEW | 8 August, 2025

Rathod Films Pvt. Ltd.’s Vaajav Re! (Marathi; UA) is a biopic of Milind who is a kachhi dhol player.

Milind (Santosh Juveker) is a poor man who is an accomplished kachhi dhol player. In spite of his talent, he never wins any kind of recognition or even applause from society. Then one day, all of a sudden, his life take a dramatic turn when he gets noticed at the Ganpati festival at Girgaon in Bombay. He shoots to such fame that today, he is known all over Maharashtra as ‘Girgaoncha ladka Milind’ (‘The sweetheart of Girgaon, Milind’).

Jay Kamlesh Rathod’s story and screenplay are so simplistic that the drama fails to have any kind of impact on the viewers. Instances which could’ve moved the audience emotionally were needed in the script. Vinayak Gaikwad’s dialogues are commonplace.

Santosh Juvekar is fair as Milind. Gaurav More is alright as Barkya. Tanvi Shinde is okay as Riya. Ketaki Kadam lends average support as Seema. Ganesh Yadav leaves a mark as Arjun. Harsha Gupte (as Shakuntala) is passable. Sagar Pabbale, Saloni Surve and the others do as desired.

Jay Kamlesh Rathod’s direction is weak. Dinesh Arjuna’s music is so-so. Mandar Cholkar’s lyrics are alright. Sanjay Korve’s choreography is average. Roshan Majumder’s background music is nothing to shout about. Lavesh Dali’s camerawork is ordinary. Shravan Jaiswal’s production designing is nothing to dance about. Editing (by Rahul Prajapati and Kunal Shinde) leaves something to be desired.

On the whole, Vaajav Re! is a poor fare.

Released on 8-8-’25 at Metro Inox (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru UJM Networks & Entertainment LLP. Publicity & opening: poor.
