FILM CITY TO COME UP IN IGATPURI | 7 October, 2025

A second film city will come up in Maharashtra at Igatpuri, near Nasik. The state government approved the land for the project on October 6 at a meeting held by deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar. The new film city will be modelled on the one at Goregaon in Bombay.

Ajit Pawar said that the revenue department has been directed to transfer the earmarked government land in Igatpuri to the department of cultural affairs for the purpose.

The government had sanctioned Rs. 10 crore between 2009 and 2012 under the Nasik Division Development Programme 2009, for creating a film hub in Nasik. A survey of 54.58 hectares of government land at Mundegaon village under the Igatpuri taluka has been done and a proposal has been sent by the Nasik collector to the revenue department for its transfer to the cultural affairs department.
