ZUBEEN GARG S.I.T. DETECTS RS. 1 CRORE IN ACCOUNTS OF PERSONAL SECURITY OFFICERS | 7 October, 2025

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Assam government, probing the death of singer Zubeen Garg, uncovered transactions of around Rs. 1 crore in the bank accounts of the music icon’s two personal security officers. The cash angle emerged when Rupkamal Kalita, one of the eight persons, present during the yacht trip in Singapore when Garg drowned on September 19, responded to the SIT’s directives to appear for interrogation.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the state government had requested the Enforcement Directorate and income-tax department to look into the financial angle of the case.

The SIT has so far arrested four people — Singapore festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, the singer’s manager, Siddharth Sharma, drummer Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, and co-singer Amritprabha Mahanta.
