HONEY IRANI’S DRIVER BOOKED FOR RS. 12 LAKH FRAUD | 5 October, 2025

The Bombay police have booked the driver of writer Honey Irani for allegedly committing financial fraud of Rs. 12 lakh over a period of time. Arun, an employee of a petrol pump near Bandra Talao at Bandra in Bombay, has also been charged in the case.

According to the Bandra police, the accused driver of actor-producer-director Farhan Akhtar’s mother allegedly used a fuel card issued in Farhan’s name to fill Honey Irani’s vehicles. The fraud came to light only recently after which Honey Irani’s manager lodged a police complaint on October 1.

Investigations revealed that petrol amounting to 62 litres was often ‘filled’ in a vehicle which had a tank capacity of 35 litres. Bills also showed that petrol was being ‘filled’ in a vehicle which had been sold seven years ago. The driver, Naresh Ramvinod Singh, admitted to his crime during interrogation. He said, he reportedly received cash per swipe without actual refuelling. The money was shared between the driver and the petrol pump employee. According to the driver, he sometimes even took the excess petrol separately in a can.

A case has been registered under sections 316(2) (criminal breach of trust), 318(4) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
