Actor Pankaj Dheer, best known for his role of Karna in B.R. Chopra’s popular TV serial Mahabharat, passed away in Bombay today (15th October). He was 68 and had been suffering from cancer. His last rites will be performed this evening.
Confirming the news of the demise, the Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) said, “With profound grief and deep sorrow, we inform you of the passing of our Trust’s erstwhile chairman and CINTAA’s former hon. general secretary, Shri Pankaj Dheer ji, on 15th October 2025. The cremation will be held today at 4.30 p.m., next to Pawan Hans, Vile Parle (W), Bombay.”
While Pankaj played many roles in films and television serials, his work in Mahabharat made him popular and a household name all over the country.
He was seen in films like Baadshah, Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge, and Zameen. Among the TV serials he appeared in are Sasural Simar Ka and Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat.
Pankaj was the father of actor Nikitin Dheer.
