LATEST POSITION | 23 August, 2025 ‘WAR 2’, ‘COOLIE THE POWERHOUSE’ (HINDI DUBBED) PROVE TO BE DISAPPOINTING FARES

War 2 turned out to be a major disappointment in 1st week. The long Independence Day weekend salvaged its position to an extent, but collections during the weekdays were pathetic. The unimpressive collections on Saturday and Sunday after Thursday (ordinary opening) and Friday (below-expectations jump despite Independence Day national holiday) underlined the harsh reality that the film had not found favour with the public and that collections for the weekdays would be way below the mark — and that’s exactly what happened. The film netted an ordinary Rs. 29 crore on Thursday. Collections jumped to Rs. 46 crore on Friday, which itself was not up to the mark. The total for Saturday was only Rs. 27 crore while that for Sunday was just Rs. 28 crore. Hence the first 4-day weekend closed at Rs. 130 crore. Collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 7.50 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 8.50 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 4.75 crore, Thursday – Rs. 4 crore. With the total for the weekdays being Rs. 24.75 crore, the first 8-day week closed at Rs. 154.75 crore. The Telugu dubbed version netted Rs. 25 crore on Thursday, Rs. 15 crore on Friday, Rs. 9 crore on Saturday, and Rs. 8 crore on Sunday, taking the first 4-day weekend’s total to Rs. 57 crore. The Telugu dubbed version’s total for the weekdays was only Rs. 5.50 crore. Therefore, the first 8-day week of the Telugu dubbed version totalled Rs. 62.50 crore.

Coolie The Powerhouse (dubbed) did not fare well in the first week. It netted Rs. 4.25 crore on Thursday. Collections on Friday increased to Rs. 6 crore due to the Independence Day holiday. The totals for Saturday and Sunday were Rs. 4.50 crore and Rs. 5 crore respectively. After a 4-day weekend total of Rs. 19.75 crore, collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 1.85 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 2.40 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 1.40 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1.25 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 6.90 crore. In this way, the first 8-day week closed at Rs. 26.65 crore.

Mahavatar Narsimha (animation, Hindi and South languages) stood its ground in the fourth week too in spite of the opposition of the two big releases — War 2 and Coolie The Powerhouse — of last week. Of course, the drop in collections in 4th week was marked but that was due to two reasons: huge business had already been done in the first three weeks, and the opposition posed by two major new films was tremendous. The fourth weekend started with a net collection of Rs. 6.98 crore on Friday (Independence Day holiday). Collections on Saturday totalled Rs. 6.49 crore while on Sunday, Rs. 7.86 crore. After a weekend total of Rs. 21.33 crore, collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 1.94 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 2.16 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 1.58 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1.33 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 7.01 crore. In this way, the fourth week closed at Rs. 28.34 crore. Grand total for 4 weeks: Rs. 213.90 crore.

Saiyaara is in its last lap. It started its fifth weekend with a take of Rs. 0.50 crore on Friday. The figure for Saturday was the same — Rs. 0.50 crore. Collections saw an increase on Sunday which closed at Rs. 0.65 crore. After a fifth weekend total of Rs. 1.65 crore, collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 0.35 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.40 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.35 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.30 crore. With the total for the weekdays being Rs. 1.40 crore, the fifth week closed at Rs. 3.05 crore. Grand total for 5 weeks: Rs. 333.50 crore.

Jurassic World: Rebirth (dubbed and the original English versions) joined the Rs. 100-crore club in the seventh week. It collected Rs. 0.11 crore in the seventh weekend, and another Rs. 0.05 crore during the weekdays. Hence the total for 7th week was Rs. 0.16 crore. Grand total for 7 weeks: Rs. 100.09 crore.

F1: The Movie (dubbed and the original English versions) managed to collect reasonably well in 8th week too, mainly the original English version, of course. It is now Rs. 3.25 crore short of the Rs. 100-crore mark! It started the eighth weekend with a take of Rs. 0.21 crore. Collections on Saturday totalled Rs. 0.22 crore while the total for Sunday was Rs. 0.19 crore. After an eighth weekend total of Rs. 0.62 crore, collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 0.10 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.15 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.16 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.14 crore. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 0.55 crore. In this way, the total for 8th week was Rs. 1.17 crore. Grand total for 7 weeks: Rs. 96.75 crore.
