‘SARKARI BACCHA’ REVIEW | 28 February, 2025

Flying Bird Pictures’ Sarkari Baccha (UA) is the story of Aditya (Ruslaan Mumtaz) and Pari (Aanya Tiwari), who marry against the wishes of the latter’s parents. Pari’s father is desirous of marrying her off to a guy who is a government servant. After marriage, Aditya and Pari learn that Aditya is impotent. Since both families (who, by now, have reconciled to the fact that their children are married and have made peace with it) insist that the couple now start planning their own family, Aditya and Pari pretend that Pari is pregnant. Does the pretence last or is their game up?

Flying Bird Pictures and Syed Ali have written a story which is not very imaginative. Their screenplay is entertaining at places but the plot is so weak that even the comic punches cannot make up for that. Dialogues (by Flying Bird Pictures and Syed Ali) are so-so.

Ruslaan Mumtaz is average as Aditya. Aanya Tiwari is ordinary as Pari. Daanish Siddiqui entertains as Aditya’s friend, Satyadev. Brijendra Kala is alright as Aditya’s father. Ehsan Khan is okay as Pari’s father. Rizwann Sikander passes muster as Golu Panday. Hemant Chaudhary doesn’t quite stand out as Pandeyji. Javed Haider is ordinary as Pari’s maternal uncle. Jr. Mehmood does a routine job as Panditji. Gurpreet Kaur Chadha (as Aditya’s mother), Ashish Singh (as Tik Tok), Shresta Iyer (in a dance-song number), Annapoorna Dwivedi (as the pregnant woman), Naseem Siddiqui and the others lend routine support.

Suryakant Tyagi and Daanish Siddiqui’s direction is nothing to shout about. Music (by Danish Ali, Najakat Shujat and Sahajahn Shaikh Sagar) is very ordinary. Lyrics are functional. Song picturisations (by Sushma Sunam, Firoz A. Khan and Dinesh Line) are ordinary. Siddhant Madhav’s background music falls short of expectations. Camerawork (Suresh Verma and Chandan K. Pandit) is not up to the mark. Pappu’s art direction is dull. Jeetendriya Parida’s editing is loose.

On the whole, Sarkari Baccha is a flop show.

Released on 28-2-’25 at Cinepolis Andheri (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay by Cinepolis India thru August Entertainment. Publicity & opening: poor. …….Also released all over. Opening was weak everywhere.
