FILMMAKER MANISH GUPTA BOOKED FOR ALLEGED KNIFE ATTACK ON DRIVER | 7 June, 2025

An FIR has been filed against filmmaker Manish Gupta for allegedly attacking his driver with a knife over an issue of payment of salary. According to the Versova (Bombay) police, who filed the case on June 6, the clash took place at Gupta’s residence-cum-office around 8.30 p.m. over a payment dispute with driver Mohammed Lashkar.

Manish Gupta had fired the driver on May 30 but hired him again four days later. The confrontation occurred after he kept him in service over again. Gupta was booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections for assault, weapon-inflicted injury and deliberate insult.

According to Lashkar, he had served as Gupta’s driver for three years and his Rs. 23,000 salary remained unpaid. He allaged that Manish Gupta terminated his services when he asked him for his April salary. Gupta’s lawyer has denied all the allegations.
