ACTOR VIJAY TO FIGHT ELECTIONS WITHOUT TIE-UP | 22 August, 2025

Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay positioned himself on August 21 as the alternative to “Uncle Stalin” (current chief minister of Tamil Nadu), saying that the 2026 Assembly elections would be a straight fight between his party and the DMK. In a fiery 34-minute speech at TVK’s second state conference in Madurai, Vijay accused the DMK of hypocrisy.

TVK, said Vijay, would be a “truly secular party” that would never have any hidden tie-up with BJP. He added that alliances under TVK would give equal power to partners. He described his political party as an “army of the common people”.
