Maina Devi Goenka, wife of veteran Assam distributor-exhibitor Shankar Lall Goenka and mother of Siddharth Goenka, passed away today (19th December) at 3 p.m. in Guwahati. She had not been keeping well since three years. Her last rites will be performed tomorrow (20th). She is survived by her husband, son Siddharth, two daughters, three sons-in-law, a daughter-in-law and grandchildren.
Just two weeks back, on 3rd December, Shankar Lall Goenka had celebrated his 90th birthday. His Kelvin Gold cinema also reopened the same day in a glittering ceremony. Maina Devi had attended the celebrations.
Baithak will be held in Guwahati on 25th and 26th December. Baithak will also be held at the Goenkas’ Shillong residence on 28th. The shraddh ceremony will be held on 31st December in Guwahati.
