A court in Udaipur on December 24 rejected the bail application of filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and his wife, Shwetambari Bhatt, in the Rs. 30-crore fraud case filed against them by Dr. Ajay Murdia. The court said, more arrests and interrogations were on the cards and hence the Bhatts could not be granted bail. This is the second time the court rejected the bail plea of the Bhatt couple.
Dr. Murdia said, he had paid around Rs. 30 crore to Vikram Bhatt for making films, including a biopic on his wife, Indira. He added that he had been promised profits of Rs. 100-200 crore but there was no sign of the profits. Co-producer Mehboob Ansari and vendor Sandeep were arrested before the Bhatts, last month. The Bhatts were arrested in Bombay on December 7. They were produced in the Udaipur court on December 9 and were sent to police custody. After that, they were remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
