The Supreme Court today (July 17) refused to grant the producers of Mahaprabhu Jagannath permission to release the film today or later this week. The Orissa high court had ordered a stay on its release yesterday (July 16) following which the producers approached the apex court.
The top court opined that the film not be released during the ongoing Lord Jagannath rath yatra. It granted permission to release it on or after July 28, when the rath yatra will conclude. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court issued notices to the Centre and Orissa state government.
