Swambhu Media Networks and Holy Cow Home Productions’ Hanuman Ansh is the real-life story of Baba Neeb Karori (Shobhinaw Satyaa) who was a disciple of Lord Hanuman. It talks about the powers of Babaji who was a clairvoyant when he was alive. After roaming different parts of the country, Babaji had settled on the outskirts of Neeb Karori in Uttar Pradesh.
Vishal Chaturvedi’s story is based on real-life incidents in the life of Neeb Karori Baba. Since he has a following mainly in Uttar Pradesh, the story is not universally appealing. Even otherwise, Chaturvedi’s story has its limitations. Vishal Chaturvedi’s screenplay is fair but it does get boring at times because it moves on a single track. Chaturvedi’s dialogues are impressive.
Shobhinaw Satyaa acts very well as Babaji. Vihaan Shedge is good as 13-year-old Laxmi (Baba). Chandan K. Anand is okay as Dr. Ram Nandan Bhosale. Bhagvandas Patel is alright as Gopal. Anil Rastogi lends decent support as Mahantji. Purnima Tiwari is so-so as Babaji’s wife, Ram Dulari. Neha Paranjpe provides average support as Parvati. Gautam Tripathi is ordinary as Parvati’s husband, Radheshyam. Rishikesh Dubey’s acting in the role of Purnanand Tiwari is routine. Manish Chaudhary is fairly nice as Babaji’s father, Durga Prasad Sharma. Alex Danilov makes his mark as Francis. Natallia Pishchalava is okay as Francis’ wife, Martha. Yasha Danilov is ordinary as Francis’ son. Colonel Hunny Bakshi (as the 65-year-old Babaji), Rudra Sen (as the 5-year old Laxmi/Baba), Sadvik Sharma (as Shubhankar), Santosh Dixit (as Hariram), Nikhil Dubey (as Dr. Ram Nandan Bhosale’s friend, Sudhir), Gulshan Pandey (as Dharamshala police inspector Dharam Singh), Brijpal Singh (as Shankar), Rajiv Mishra (as daroga Nasir Ali), Piyush Thakur (as the constable), Yash Pandey (as Hiren), Aman Mehta (as Champaklal), Ketan Raste (as Jayanti), Shrungar Rughani (as Jetha), Kamal Kumar Singh (as Birju), Dileep Chaudhary (as Vaidya), Pihu Mishra (as young Ram Dulari), Snigdha Dwivedi (as Durga Prasad Sharma’s second wife), Abhishek Mishra (as Chand chor), Rajnish Srivastava (as Jagdish), Mohan Singh (as Ramnarayan), Piu Khan (as Gopal’s wife, Mangala), Nisha Kumari (as Dr. Ram Nandan Bhosale’s mother), Lakshya Khare (as young Ram Nandan Bhosale) and the others lend fair support.
Vishal Chaturvedi’s direction is okay. Music (Sadhu Tiwari, Rishi Pathak, Shreyas Dharmadhikari, Suneel Lodhi, Dhirendra Mulkalwar and Vishal Chaturvedi) is ordinary. Lyrics (Sadhu Tiwari, Rishi Pathak, Shreyas Dharmadhikari and Shantanu Sudame) are meaningful. Dhirendra Mukalwar’s background music is impactful. Vishal Bawa does an average job of the cinematography. Gopal Chand Rajbhar’s art direction is good. Shankh Rajyadhyaksha’s editing is quite sharp.
On the whole, Hanuman Ansh may be a fairly well-made film but there won’t be too many takers for the story because Baba Neeb Karori Maharaj was popular only among a section of the Indian public. Also, another film on the life and teachings of Babaji, Shree Baba Neeb Karori Maharaj, was released in May this year.
