Veteran music director of Gujarati films, Gaurang Vyas, breathed his last on 3rd September in Ahmedabad. He was 87.
Gaurang Vyas was also a singer and music arranger. He was the son of famous Gujarati films’ music composer Avinash Vyas. He started his career by working as an assistant to his father. One of his early assignments was Jesal Toral. He became popular with the music he composed for Lakho Phulani. During his career, he scored the music for more than 100 films. Among the other well-known films he composed music for are Parkhi Thapan, Bhavni Bhavai, Maniyaro, Naseebni Balihari, Okha Haran, Liludi Dharti and Maiyyar Ma Manadu Nathi Lagtu.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief following the demise of Gaurang Vyas. He wrote on X: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Shri Gaurang Vyas, a renowned musician in the Gujarati music world. Carrying forward the rich musical tradition of his father Avinash Vyas, he had carved out a unique place for himself in the field of Gujarati music. His demise leaves Gujarat feeling the loss of a talented creator. His invaluable contribution to the Gujarati music scene will always be remembered. Prayers for the peace of the departed soul, and condolences to the bereaved family members and his vast legion of fans… Om Shanti..!!”
