AJ Films Entertainment and Mahobiya Film Production’s Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha is based on epic Ramayana.
The story of Lord Ram has been written by Shubham Singh, Abhishek Singh and Sachin Kumar Singh in such a routine fashion that it fails to appeal. The trio’s screenplay is replete with hackneyed scenes and, therefore, fails to impress the viewers. Even the fact that there have been so many TV serials, films and stage-plays made on the great Indian epic seemingly did not prompt the writers to write an engaging screenplay. The trio’s dialogues are okay.
Dev Sharma is fairly good as Ram. Anjali Arora plays Sita unimpressively. Rajneesh Duggal appears too soft to play Raavan. Sheel Verma is dull and quite expressionless as Laxman. Nirbhay Wadhwa does quite well as Hanuman. Vikram Raj (as king Dashrath), Upasna Vaishnav (as Kaikeyi), Sanju Sahu (as Kaushalya), Sangeeta Nishad (as Sumitra), Urvashi Sahu (as Manthra), Manisha Verma (as Ahilya), Tanu Pradhan (as Surpnakha), Seema Singh (as Mandodari), Rameshwari (as Kewatin), Anita Upadhyay (as Shabri), Akhilesh Dwivedi (as Bharat), Vivek Chandra (as Shatrughan), Bhunesh Sahu (as Meghnad), Navraj (as Kumbhkaran), Nitin Choudhry (as Sugreev), Rohit Rajbhar (as Bali), Paritosh Singh Baghel (as Angad), Rajarao (as Nal), Rahul Ahirwar (as Neel), Akhilesh Verma (as Vishwamitra), Dharmendra Choubey (as king Janak), Prakash Tamrakar (as Satanand), Neeraj Uikey (as Vibhishan), Anand Sahu (as Maarech), Nakul Mahalwar (as Kewat), Anirudh Tamrakar (as Jatayu), Shamsheer Shiwani (as Sushain Vaidya), Gokul Verma (as Jamwant), Jugal Kishor Tiwari (as Bheel Raja), Jairam Bhagnani (as Rishi Vashisht), Rajneesh Jhanjhi (as Parshuram), Swastik (as Shashwat), Dilip Choudhry (as Shashwat’s father), Dipti Joshi (as Shashwat’s mother), Zara Khan (as Shashwat’s grandmother) and Shabhih Jafri (as bua) lend very ordinary support.
Abhishek Singh’s direction is not up to the mark. Ashish & Dev’s music is quite alright. Lyrics (by Jaidev Jonwal, Nandlal Singh and Kishor Chanchal) are okay. Himanshu Kumar and Mukesh Sarshar’s choreography is nothing to dance about. Background music (by Ashish & Dev) is very impactful. Kunal V. Kadam and Ravi Parcha’s camerawork is okay. Nishant Khan’s action and stunt scenes don’t afford the required thrill. Raj Tandiya’s production designing is basic. Ajay Varma’s editing is loose.
On the whole, Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha is a flop show.
