October 2, 2019 will go down in Bollywood history as a red-letter day. Aditya Chopra’s War created box-office history on the opening day by netting Rs. 51.60 crore. Additionally, the dubbed Tamil and Telugu versions netted Rs. 1.75 crore. Therefore, the total for all the three versions together was Rs. 53.35 crore. This is the highest a Hindi film has ever collected. This has surpassed the total of Thugs Of Hindostan which, by collecting Rs. 52.25 crore on its first-day, held the record for the highest opening-day collection.
If War held sway over the audiences all over India, Syeraa Narasimha Reddy dominated the scene in South India so phenomenally that its collections from just South India were greater than the all-India collections of War. Syeraa (Telugu and South dubbed versions) netted Rs. 63 crore down South on the first day (October 2). If one adds the Hindi dubbed version’s collections of Rs. 2 crore from all-India, the figure for Syeraa (all versions; all-India) would be Rs. 65 crore.
Between War, Syeraa Narasimha Reddy and the third release, Hollywood’s Joker, they managed to make October 2 as the biggest single-day at the box-office. The total of War, Syeraa and Joker (English) on 2nd October was Rs. 124 crore. This is more than the single-day total box-office collection of Rs. 120 crore on the day Bahubali 2: The Conclusion had opened.
