A fire broke out in the 22-storey Peninsula Park building at Andheri West in Bombay around 12.30 p.m. on 14th October. There were no casualties as most people walked out of the commercial building on being alerted about the fire. About 60 people, who could not escape due to smoke in the staircase, rushed to the building terrace from where they were rescued by the fire brigade. Those who ran to the terrace were mostly the ones who received information about the fire quite late.
The building houses several production offices and dubbing studios. The fire-fighting system in the building was in working condition and greatly aided the fire brigade. The fire was first noticed on the sixth floor and was seen spreading to other floors from the electric duct area.
