SONU SOOD SENDING MIGRANTS HOME | 23 May, 2020

Sonu Sood, who recently sent migrant workers from Bombay to their homes outside Maharashtra in buses, is sending more such labourers home. His partner in this social service in the lockdown times is restaurateur Neeti Goel. Since 11th May, the duo has flagged off 31 buses carrying 750 migrants so far to Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Getting permissions from various state governments so that the labourers are not disallowed from entering their home state, is the most difficult part of this exercise of Ghar Bhejo which Sonu and Neeti are passionately involved in these days. Clearances from the governments of West Bengal, Jharkhand and Assam are awaited.

Over the next 10 days, more than 100 buses will leave Bombay, each carrying just 35 passengers to ensure social distancing in the days of the coronavirus pandemic. These buses are, in their return journey to Bombay, carrying back passengers who want to reach their homes in Maharashtra from other states.
