A section of Rajini Makkal Mandram plans to go on a hunger strike at Valluvar Kottam in Nungambakkam on 10th January to pressurise Rajinikanth to rethink his decision not to enter electoral politics. Those planning the “hunger fast” have sought police permission for the event.
It may be recalled that Rajinikanth recently announced his decision to not contest elections in view of his health issues. An RMM district secretary said, “Some disgruntled elements in RMM are trying to organise this protest. He (Rajinikanth) has a serious health issue.”
