FIAF AWARD FOR AMITABH BACHCHAN | 20 March, 2021

Amitabh Bachchan was presented the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) award at a virtual ceremony held on 19th March. Martin Scorsese and Christopher Nolan bestowed the award on Bachchan. Nolan described Bachchan as a living legend. Scorsese said, the organisation could not have chosen a more deserving candidate for the award. Accepting the award, Bachchan said that he was deeply honoured.

Amitabh Bachchan is the first Indian to be given the award which was to honour his efforts to preserve India’s film heritage. The FIAF is a worldwide organisation, comprising film archives and museums from across the world. Bachchan’s name was nominated by the Film Heritage Foundation, which is an affiliate of the FIAF. Bachchan became the ambassador of the Film Heritage Foundation in 2015.
