The Andheri magistrate court in Bombay yesterday (25th March) cancelled the bailable warrant against Kangana Ranaut in the defamation complaint filed against her by writer-lyricist-poet Javed Akhtar, after she appeared before it. The court had issued the warrant on March 1 after the actress remained absent despite summons issued against her on February 1.
In his complaint, Javed Akhtar has alleged that Kangana Ranaut had made defamatory statements about him in her interview to a TV news channel after the demise of Sushant Singh Rajput. In the said interview, she had referred to Akhtar as being part of a gang in Bollywood, which intimidated newcomers. The Juhu (Bombay) police had submitted a report that offences relating to defamation were made out against Kangana.
