PANDIT KIRAN MISHRA DIES OF CORONAVIRUS | 16 April, 2021

Lyricist Pandit Kiran Mishra passed away today (16th April) at Seven Hills Hospital in Bombay due to coronavirus. He had been admitted to the hospital on 13th April due to the virus and with breathing problems. He was 67 years old.

Pandit Mishra was known for his devotional songs. Anup Jalota had lent his voice to a number of devotional songs penned by Mishra. He had also written lyrics for some films and television serials. Sameer Sen (of Dilip Sen Sameer Sen music director duo) told Information, “Just a few days back, Kiran Mishra had told Dilip Sen that they would soon collaborate on something as he was raring to go. He had written a song for Tips.” Sameer added, “His demise is a great loss to the world of devotional music. He used to write the dance ballads of Hema Malini. Pt. Mishra was unmatched as far as devotional songs and knowledge of the Ramayan and Mahabharat was concerned.”
