Jahan Bloch, daughter of yesteryear’s filmmaker Mehul Kumar, has just written her first feature film script, The Bollywood Romance. It is about a teenage girl who is half-Indian and half-white-Canadian. The script is set in Prince Edward Island and inspired by Bollywood films. Jahan and her husband, Ronak Nanda, are settled in P.E.I. And the 33-year-old daughter of Mehul Kumar had won a provincial arts grant of $3,700 to write her first feature film script.
Earlier this year, Jahan and her husband had made a short drama through Film P.E.I.’s Film Award program which provides training and production funding to Island filmmakers. Titled Paradox Of Life, it follows an at-home caregiver, Arjun, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Paradox Of Life marked Jahan’s directorial debut.
