VETERAN FILM CRITIC RASHID IRANI FOUND DEAD | 3 August, 2021

Well-known film critic Rashid Irani passed away at his Marine Lines residence in Bombay a couple of days back. He was 74. His remains were discovered on 2nd August in the bathroom of his flat in which he lived all alone. It is presumed that he died on the night of 30th July. The Azad Nagar police have registered an accidental death case and have sent the body to JJ Hospital for post-mortem.

Rashid had contraced COVID-19 last year. He had also suffered a haemorrhage after a fall at the Goa Film Festival.

Besides reviewing Hollywood films for The Times Of India for some decades, Irani also co-owned Brabourne Cafe at Dhobi Talao (Bombay) which had shut down many years ago. He was a regular at the Mumbai Press Club.
